In Greek mythology, being shot into the heart by the golden arrow of Cupid will fall in love. The beautiful pattern of Hearts & Arrows in the diamond is reminiscent of Cupid holding a bow and an arrow to shoot through the heart. So the Hearts & Arrows pattern is also named as the "Cupid Effect".
